Sorry Phathead, but if you had two neurones to rub together you'd know
that elelctoral reform isn't a job for a stateman, who is always a
reasonable man.

George Bernard Shaw got it right when he said "The reasonable man
adapts himself to the conditions that surround him... The unreasonable
man adapts surrounding conditions to himself... All progress depends on
the unreasonable man."

The odd thing is that Dubbya and his crew haven't been laughed out of
office - the cartoonists of the American media must be feeling terribly
frustrated by their "loyal" editors.

You have a VERY rich fantasy life, Bill.

If only it were fantasy. If some conspiracy theory whacko novelist had
produced a tale of the U.S. government being taken over by a bunch of
red-neck oil-barons who start an unnecessary war because they are too
dumb and parochial to undestand what their intelligence people are
telling them, he'd have been dismissed as ridiculous only a few years
ago.

High time you got your electoral spending laws reformed.

Well, since you can't find a job why don't you do it in your spare
time?

Why the heck do you think I raise the subject here from time to time?

It does distract me from my major project - circumventing the heat
death of the universe - but I do feel it to be part of my civic duty as
a citizen of the earth.

You are reduced to childish jeering. Get back in your box.

The stupidity, dear Phathead, is in your reactions to my posts. Accept
your intellectual inferiority, and go away and play with people who are
nearly as dumb as you are.

Looks to me like the Democrats are taking advantage of her latest loony
remarks to cast broad criticism over all neocons. Her previous
analysis about history (and the opening of Kremlin records) validating
some of Joe McCarthy's attacks had some real factual teeth. Now she
has just resorted to nasty name calling.

She's made being an attention-whore into a profitable
business. You have to kind ofadmire that.

It's been done. Trickee Dickee issued in imperial edict to that effect,
in about the 1970's. It was an unmitigated disaster, and because of that
and other high crimes and misdemeanors, he was drummed out of office in
disgrace.

Thanks anyway,

But are you sure it's that simple? Forcing people to drive slower
for any distance will itself take a lot of work, and cause lots of
heartburn/indigestion. Indigestion is bad: it releases greenhouse
gases.

OTOH, what if the people are driving *to* work?

In this neck of the woods the freeways are jam-packed most of the day
with cars travelling 15-20MPH, but somehow that doesn't seem to help.

It's all very complicated. Let's just tax the rich instead, okay?

Nah. Just kill all the lawyers.

Or, you could take it upon yourself to drive sensibly, and not need
another layer of bureaucracy on top of you.

Good Luck!
