Taking the Irish analogy further, because we didn't shell Dublin and take out
Shannon airport etc, we've finally progressed to a period of peace in the region.

Israel's action in Lebanon will simply be more fuel on the flames. Not to mention
they're a war crime. You'd think Israel ought to have some sensitivity about war
crime wouldn't you ?

Hezballa is the Mafia of the middle east.

That doesn't justify destroying Lebanon though.

Graham

There really is no "Lebanon" any more. It was a nice, prosperous,
tolerant place, the "Switzerland of the middle east" until the Syrians
and the Iranians trashed it. Maybe what Israel is trying to do is save
Lebanon; that's certainly what they'd like to do.

John

Lebanon still is the most tolerant place in that part of the world. It had just
dragged itself back to a semblance of normality from the chaos that reigned last
time Israel trashed it and they had even just kicked out the Syrians !

I'll bet you see the Syria back in there now to 'protect' Lebanon. Bloody
stupid.

Hezbollah are no more representative of the Lebanese than the IRA was of Irish
citizens.

How many members of Hezbollah are in the Lebanese Parliament?
Cabinet?

When did the IRA fire missiles at England? You're confusing them
with the Germans, who, by the way, England bombed the hell out of their
military and civilians.

I don't think they had missiles per se but they certainly had mortar bombs. I fail
to see why that makes any difference. Their larger bombs were pretty devastating
at times too.

No can ever seem to remember, It was always the other side who started
it.

Probably it started with some bad decision making in 1948
