Hi All,

Should I say:

To burn software to flash ( of a MCU )

or

To download software to flash ( of a MCU )

Best regards,
Boki.

The difference is conceptual.

What do you really mean ?

Goodness !

Is this flash memory in an MCU or a flash memory chip - ok you said MCU above.

I think it's up to you. I'd probably say program - burn typically is associated
with EPROM technology but the distinction isn't clear.

You can certainly say you flashed the flash memory though ! What term does the
chip vendor use in its documentation ? I'd use that.

Something about CSR Bluetooth chips, they have external flash or
internal flash version,... so I called that MCU : )

Then use whatever the documentation of the flash device uses to
tell the user how to program it.

It might even be "program", or "upload".

The difference between "download" and "upload" is the point of
view. Your computer is generally regarded the "host" to its
peripherals. Sending data from you to them is an upload, and
them sending data to you is a download.

Hope This Helps!
